Never has one book changed the way so many people run. Born to run details the journey of runners who have ditched supportive footwear and returned to it’s barefoot origins. It’s a compelling story and one that makes for an excellent read, even if you aren’t a runner. If you are starting out on your running journey, these books are inspirational and informational.
Here’s our favourite list of running books:
Charting the romantic history of Mexico’s Tarahumara Indians who run ultra marathons in just a pair of sandals. This book is the epic story of that tribe and the westerners who compete and learn from them along the way. Great read for anyone who runs!
We can’t decide if Dean Karnazes is a legend or clinically insane. Either way his stories make for an interesting read. He once ran 262 miles without resting, that’s the equivalent of 10 marathons!
You will want to run out the door once you’ve read this, as his style and enthusiasm is inspirational.
This is more of a “how to” manual about barefoot running. Which is an incredibly useful thing to have. Because if you transfer your running technique that you have used for 20 years whilst wearing shoes then you will almost definitely get injured at some point!
